Reflections on the River was sketched out after a paddle in my kayak last summer. The water was glass like and the scenery along the banks of the Rideau caught my attention. I took a few pictures for reference but when I started painting it took on a life of it’s own. This painting was sketched out in acrylic paint and patiently waited for me to complete it in oil, which I did this Spring 2026. It has a calm vibe, there is one ring forming in the otherwise glass like water. The earthly colour palette of yellows, greens, umber and a little red brown compliment the bright sky with a hint of blue. This original painting is 36 × 36 inches on a stretched gallery canvas, I’ve signed the work on the front and back. Titled on the back.
